Tsunami Appeal

After the Tsunami disaster of December 26th, 2004 in Sri Lanka, we have been working with all our resources to assist the relief efforts in Sri Lanka providing

We have already disbursed $3000 from friends and our resources directly to victims and to the Student/Faculty relief groups at the University of Peradeniya Human Disaster Management Center at Eastern University Kalmunai Office of the Human Care FoundationAkurana Womens Welfare Association

This work is documented at http://lareef.blogspot.com/

In the first month, we have undertaken this work with the support of a few friends and our own resources. Now, having seen the dire and extensive needs, and how effective small donations are, and with partners undertaking relief work in place in affected areas, we are seeking contributions to mobilize contributions for relief efforts. 100% of these funds shall be used for relief. We are hiring a person to aid disaster relief work with existing funds.

We can update you of the uses of funds and also direct funds specifically

The last need is one that has been neglected so far in relief efforts. The affected can be provided with tools to leverage further funds from other sources. The affected has such needs as writing letters to the government, other funders and of relating their stories. There is also a dire need for more credible and acccessible information.

FECT is receiving funds at Peoples Bank, Akurana, Sri Lanka Branch.
