Video/ Graphics Designer
We are looking to hire a versatile, reliable and conscientious individual skilled in web development, system administration, and is willing to be a team player to support a non-profit scientific, engineering and socio-economic research think-tank which aims to harness science to benefit the vulnerable and the environment. A person who possesses a Diploma in Graphics, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience is preferred.
Essential IT Skills
- Competency in current video editing, animation, image processing software
- Proficiency in Graphics and Publishing Suites (CS5 or CorelDraw )
Attention to detail and English writing skills
Useful Related Skills
- Quality writing in English
- Programming languages.
- Ability to learn quickly as needed.
- Documentation, record keeping and communication skills
- Ability to help less skilled staff.
- Proficiency in web development software
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix and other Operating Systems
- SQL query skills in MySQL
- CSS Skills
- Knowledge in javascript and Ajax like frameworks
- Wordpress content management system
- HTML Skills
- PHP & MySQL Skills
- Aesthetic sensibility in web development.
- PC hardware and System Administrator Skills
The best fit is a person with good interpersonal skills who is adaptable and flexible and can handle tasks in multiple areas. The motivated individual who is able to fulfill these tasks has the opportunity to undertake research in areas of scientific computing in interaction with skilled scientists and social scientists and associated staff.
